While Crucible has introduced fantastic improvements and changes in both functionality and game-play, there is one faucet of changes that has been overlooked by many players: ArekGÇÖJaalan Live Event.
For those who are unfamiliar with CCP Sponsored Live Events and current status of ArekGÇÖJaalan Project, it starts with the defection of Dr. Hilen Tukoss (played by CCP Dropbear) of Caldari in search of the GÇ£mysteriesGÇ¥ of w-space and sleepers.
Throughout the months, players involved in ArekGÇÖJaalan have submitted numerous and insightful articles associated with the study of GÇ£unknownGÇ¥ in the EVE universe. Upon the implementation of Crucible, the amalgamation of all our efforts are erected in a deadspace site, in a form of massive construct labeled the Site One.
For those who havenGÇÖt had the opportunity to take a visit, please do so. It is located in Eram and we guarantee you that you will be awed by the sheer scale of this site. In addition, all visitors are GÇ£rewardedGÇ¥ with ingame items!
EVE Online is supposed to be a form of escapism for all of us. Lets put aside our differences, momentarily forget about the current turmoil with the CSM & Fanfest, and enjoy the game!
Feel free to contact us if you have any questions regarding the Live Event. You can also join the public channel: ArekGÇÖJaalan. Please refer to EVELOPEDIA and search for "Arek'Jaalan" for wealth of knowledge.
We understand those involved in the Live Events are a small minority of the players. Nevertheless, with only few hundreds of players, we were able to erect such monument. Imagine what we can achieve with thousands of players. We welcome you! |

Hello, it is a valid concern, but I believe CCP Dropbear is still with CCP. He has been mentioned by CCP Abraxas as recent as a month ago, busy with more Live Event and other contents. Also from our knowledge, he's been busy with the honeymoon. =) |

Lets wait for the real response from CCP itself. It is highly unlikely that he got "fired" from Fanfest.
Even if he was fired, we will have CCP Abraxas leading the Live Event. Do not despair! |

CCP Goliath wrote:Hi, firstly I would like to confirm that CCP Dropbear is no longer with the company. It is not my place to explain the circumstances surrounding this, but I will say that the thread linked above is incorrect.
Some of you may have met me during the Live Events roundtable at Fanfest. I along with other devs (Abraxas, Affinity, Gnauton, Navigator to name a few) have taken up the mantle of live events. We were reponsible for the Dev Caravans that occurred over Christmas as well as the Scavenger Hunt player event at Fanfest. During the roundtable the Arek'Jaalan Project was mentioned by a few players. It is on our list of "cool things we want to get involved in" which is rather extensive following said roundtable. We are currently working on our Next Big Thing and so I will not give specific dates, times or topics at the moment, but rest assured that Live Events are going nowhere and we are committed to making some awesome memories for you all.
There you see. CCP is working tirelessly to bring the next big events for the Arek'Jaalan Project! Do not despair!
By the way, are CCP Abraxas, Affinity, Gnauton, and Navigator going to continue to carry the mantle of the ingame character Hilen Tukoss? |

My apologies haha. Could you at least tell us who the contact person is within CCP, so we can communicate Arek'Jaalan's findings & responsibilities? Without Hilen Tukoss at the helm, it would be extremely difficult to get things organized.
I suppose this is where you could come to the stage, to make a brief appearance as Hilen Tukoss and assure the existing Arek'Jaalan communities that the Project is still fully "operational?" |

P.S. I'm heading to the live event site right now. Hopefully it's still there to be seen.
Of course not. The know-hows and the system/method of getting to conclusion still resides with the leads, which could be leveraged for the future project. There are at least a dozen of project going under way so the know-hows and the findings from other projects are leverageable for each other. |

P.S. I'm heading to the live event site right now. Hopefully it's still there to be seen. I THINK you're actually referring to the original Project Compass, which is a project I originally ran. The celestial sphere HAS changed, but I think the original analysis could probably still be done. The star pattern I was relying on in that project, Orion, is still present in k-space (and pops up just about everywhere once you know what to look for) as well as in w-space, there's just a bunch of OTHER stars now visible in k-space that makes it slightly less obvious. Rather than considering the effort truly wasted, however, I believe the original Compass acts as an interesting baseline to the revised Project Compass (which I'm currently in the process of wrapping up, along with my co-lead Faulx). The report (which hopefully will be out soon) actually directly compares the original results to the new results. The only part that is EXPLICITLY disproven by the new Compass project is the conclusions I made regarding the kind of galaxy New Eden is in. We now have distinct galactic banding, which suggests a spiral galaxy, which is something I originally discounted in the first go-around. Still, I can use the bulk of the original research as some tepid support for my findings in the new Project Compass. Which is a little weird, because that's how science works in the real world as well: building off of previous research.
And all our hard work are compiled in EVELOPEDIA. The new EVELOPEDIA is streamlined and easy to navigate. Please type in "Arek'Jaalan" to get caught up on all the work! |

Why? I am advertising a Live Event sponsored by CCP Developers. Why is it that this thread gets tossed to this channel that no one sees while The Mittani's thread shines prominently in the General Chat, which is more fitting to be posted on this In-Game and Gatherings channel? |

I think he is pretty much saying that the constellation that Angel Cartel resides in, originally belonged to Joves who are the "titans" equivalent of the Greek gods. |

New possible contents to be added on Arek'Jaalan Project's story arc, per CSM Meeting Notes!
Added the following notes to the thread:
Update August 3, 2012 Per CSM Meeting Notes, CCP has been very enthusiastic about expanding the storyline of the Arek'Jaalan Project.
"Talking about Arek'Jaalan, CCP Goliath discussed how he immersed himself into the lore surrounding Arek'Jaalan and wormholes after the Fanfest roundtable and his fascination with the story. CCP Goliath then shared with the CSM his perfect scenario for Live Events: HBO-style story arcs that take place over the course of a few months, with several events affecting the overall arc and leading up to the story. Players would be able to directly affect the story through their own actions. Elise agreed that player involvement would greatly enrich the depth of the lore to EVE players. CCP Goliath admitted that this would be the perfect solution but, unfortunately, the work involved may prove to be too daunting. However CCP Goliath recalled that several arc-type events had occurred previously, where players directly affected the outcome of the event by either killing a crucial player or neglecting to rescue another." |

Gogela wrote:So... what you know of a specific event or this is just generally to get people excited about the idea of events?
At the moment, the actual CCP-Sponsored Live Events are on hold, but there are still a healthy group of capsuleers engaged in Arek'Jaalan Project.
Once Dust gets implemented, I am sure CCP will be a more active participant of the Live Events.
In the previous talks at various conventions/CSM meetings, CCP expressed its continual interest in the LIve Events and the prospect of hosting another Live Events (perhaps not Arek'Jaalan Project) in the "near future."
We should all understand that much of the Live Events contents implemented by CCP actually derived from player-run events & ideas. More pre-existing support for particular Live Events means more likelihood of CCP involvement in the near-future!
Till that time comes, show your support for Arek'Jaalan! |
